Trainer Greg Eurell was understandably thrilled with Redasun’s performance for success in the Schweppes BM70 (1300m) first-up and Sandown over the weekend, and has revealed he will set the talented mare for races like the 2015 Stocks Stakes (1600m) this time in.
Redasun has been a strong and largely consistent performer for Eurell since first appearing on course during the early stages of 2014; posting a competitive three wins from only nine competitive starts.
Revealing that winning a black type race figures as her major goal through the 2015 Spring Carnival, Eurell is confident a mile figures as the ideal trip for the daughter of Haradasun; opening consideration to races like the 2015 Stocks Stakes.
“What we’re hoping to do is push her rating up and hopefully sneak into the right sort of black type race and just see where we end up,” Eurell told AAP.
“We know she’s very strong at 1600 metres and that will be her target distance to start with.
“I really don’t know if she can’t run 2000 metres, but with a different sort of a prep and being a bit stronger now it may lend herself heading in that direction.”
Redasun returned to racing this time for a credible fifth in the Caulfield Health Maiden Plate (1100m) on January 5th; progressing to fourth in the McMahon’s Dairy Plate (1200m) on January 30th before a forgettable run for eighth in a Sandown minor over 1400m a fortnight later.
Responding well in taking out her next two starts, including the Sportius Global Events BM70 (1600m) by close to three lengths on March 4th, Redasun boxed on for a credible fifth in her black type debut; the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) on April 18th but failed to beat a single runner home in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) on May 2nd.
