The Group 2 WH Stocks Stakes is due to run at Moonee Valley Racecourse on Saturday September 14, 2013.
The race is worth $220,000 in prize money and is run over a distance of 1,600 metres.
The 2013 WH Stocks Stakes will take place under weight-for-age conditions and is open to mares aged four-years-old and upwards.
Scheduled to run as part of Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes Day, the race shares its program with the Group 2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes, Group 3 McEwen Stakes and Listed Chandler Macleod Stakes.
Last year’s WH Stocks Stakes was won by Oasis Bloom, who claimed the race ahead of Spirit Song and Chateau Margaux.
Oasis Bloom has not had a race start since placing fourth in the Group 1 Myer Classic at Flemington Racecourse on November 3, 2012.
The Al Maher mare won the WH Stocks Stakes after two below average efforts in the Group 3 WW Cockram Stakes and the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes.
These two races provide fantastic lead-up races to the 2013 WH Stocks Stakes and can provide a form guide going into the race.
